Excavation and trenching are extremely hazardous operations that expose workers to the possibility of serious injury or death. The greatest hazard associated with trenching is a cave-in of the surrounding soil when workers are in the trench, the result often being fatal.  This program instructs on trenching operations, including Soil Basics, Trench Protection (Sloping & Benching, Shoring & Shielding, Avoiding Hazards), recognizing the signs of trench danger and handling trench emergencies.
